Merry Christmas!

Image
Merry Christmas! or Happy Holidays!  Whatever you celebrate, I hope you spend this time the way you want! Whatever floats your boat :)    I'll be spending today at home, relaxing with my family. We're not going to make a big meal or have a bunch of people over...we're just going to spend time together :) Of course, the baby is going to open her first Christmas present and there will be lots of pictures taken!  I made this quick and simple card for a friend using the DCWV Candy Cane Lane Stack, adhesive mirror stars, gem sheets and the silver foil box of cards.

Moose Tracks

Image
So it's my favorite ice cream, but also...there's a moose by my tree!  Inspired by the DCWV Winter in the Woods stack. I love the winter colors in the stack and used them as inspiration to color the moose. I thought he would look great by my Christmas tree :) My husband thought he would make the moose 'cool' by adding sunglasses. Very appropriate for a Southern California moose :)

DCWV & Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Winter Blog Hop

Image
Welcome to the DCWV and Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft® Winter blog hop! Both blogs will be sharing fun winter projects featuring products from both companies! Check in each day on both blogs for chances to win lots of fabulous prizes! I created this mini album for the hop :)     using some of these products: I used the Christmas Creations stack for the cover. I gave the hat lots of texture and shine by mixing Faber Castle Design Memory Craft Glass Bead Glitter Gel and Whipped Spackle.    I used a thick dry brush to give it texture and fanned it out on the edges to keep the soft look.    Inside the covers there are pages of different sizes. I'll add photos, journaling and memorabilia after Christmas :)    This snowflake is a piece of the Christmas and Winter 180 stack. I gave it a 'snowy' look by adding the mixture of Glass Beads and Whipped Spackle. It's thinner paper, but the media didn't wrinkle or buckle

DCWV December stack-a-holic challenge

Image
I hope you get a chance to play this month. The sketch is super easy to work with and I really like the little added detail on the edge. I used the 5 pack premium papers. This is actually on the back of the 'happy' LO you can see that here: http://madebykarla10.blogspot.com/2014/11/hello-sunshine.html    Join us for the challenge here: http://www.dcwvinc.blogspot.com/2014/12/december-stack-holic-challenge.html Have a great week ;)

Counting blessings

Image
This thanksgiving we're grateful for this little girl. The journaling (on the tags behind the photo) talks about how hard it was for me to really enjoy a new baby. The lack of sleep was awful for me. But at the same time, I knew I had to enjoy those moments when she was tiny because she wouldn't always be that small. I kept telling myself 'it won't always be like this, she'll grow up too soon.' Before I knew it, I was really enjoying it. Even the late night feedings :-)  Life is very different this fall but we're grateful for all the blessings we've been given, especially this little one.  What are you thankful for?   I used the 6x6 vellum stack, premium papers, and a bit of the vintage collector embellishments to complete this LO.

Hello sunshine!

Image
She makes me happy when skies are gray :-)  The premium papers make seriously frame worthy layouts. The texture and quality is different than scrapbooking papers. I would love to make a space in my house to display the LOs I make on open frames so the texture can really be appreciated.  What do you do with your LOs? Are they displayed at all before they go into albums?...Do they go into albums?  Have a wonderful day!

Love

You know those LOs I started in anticipation of baby pictures? Well, here's one I completed recently.    My favorite part, besides the photo is the embossed vellum from the 6x6 pad at Joann. That was fun to make and I love the way it looks.  Have you tried any of these premium papers or the vellum 6x6?

Yummy Layers

Image
The specialty paper packs at Joann stores make exquisite layouts.  Here I mixed some of the specialty papers with the gold heart sheet from the  6x6 vellum pack. I distressed the pink vellum from the premium papers by making it into a ball and flattening it out again. I love the texture it adds to the layout.     On the LO below, I heat embossed the gold hearts and arrows onto a piece of plain vellum from the 6x6 vellum stack. Then I used various premium papers to create the layers that go behind the photo.  I love the background piece. It's a piece of vellum from one of the premium papers. It has gradated colors and I was just so obsessed with it, I had to use it whole as a background. I added a piece of shimmer white cardstock behind it to really show off the colors.  I used staples to attach the layers since I used so much vellum in the layers.    These are the beginnings of 2 LO's I crafted ahead of time in anticipation of the many baby pictur

November stack-a-holic challenge

Image
It's November already! Time is really flying...some days, it still feels like summer here in California. I missed traveling this year but I've been keeping busy re-living our travels by scrapping them! This one uses the November sketch for the stack-a-holic challenge over at DCWV .     I used the gilded paper stack and the air mail line to make a LO and a card. Love how these two look together.  Inside the air mail envelope is a map of London marked with where we stayed. It was a great stay and I can see myself living there.  The journaling talks about how fun it was to watch other tourists try to recreate the Abbey Road cover photo in a very busy intersection. There was a lot of honking! lol  Hope you can join us for the challenge this month :)

Because having a one month old is not conducive to crafting...

...I made this ahead of time last month. Now I just have to capture her in a cute costume/headband and add the photo of her first halloween!   Hope you have a FUN Halloween!!! This is the Eek-a-Boo stack and the Premium Papers out at Joann stores. The spiders are from the sequins pack also at Joann.

Trick or Treat!

Image
Hello and welcome to the DCWV Too Cute To Spook Halloween Hop!! TODAY the current DCWV Design Team is bringing you a group of projects that were made using the newest, cutest DCWV Halloween stack, Eek-a-Boo! Halloween is quickly approaching and it's time to turn your spooky crafting up to high gear!  I really had to get a head start because I have to mail some spooky treats for my nephew. My little nephew moved about 8 hours away and we see him about twice a year. We used to see him about twice a month before. It's a big difference and we've taken to sending him good old snail mail to surprise him once in a while. This year, we're sending him a little Halloween box. I'm not in favor of letting kids eat a ton of candy in one sitting. Neither is my sister in law. So what will I include in his Halloween box? Here's some healthier and fun ideas for Halloween treats: -Super hero/character band aids -Stickers -'Growing' toys (grow in wat

Halloween Decor

Image
Hello! I usually take out my Halloween decorations in the beginning of October.  How about you? Do you decorate?    I used a frame from the dollar store for this project. The background is a piece from the premium paper collections out at Joann. I love those papers. they are so beautiful!  I know they're not inexpensive, but don't forget to use your 50% off coupon when you shop ;)  I also used the skulls from the home decor line. I added a little bow and star to one, an eye patch to another and a golden star to a third skull. I used spiders from the Halloween sequin pack and some twine from the die cut pack throughout the frame. The little mirror star is from the mirror sticker line also at Joann.   Can you believe October is here?!

Hello Weekend!

Image
I love cork and pearls. I don't know why, but they look so good together!  On the weekends we like to go walk at the local botanical gardens. We tend to look for certain things and animals. Like the one turkey that lives there among the peacocks, ducks and geese. We worry about the turkey if we don't see him one day. Mountain lions, bob cats, coyotes and other wild animals can sneak into the gardens from the nearby mountains.  The peacock on the rock. We walk by the rock each time to see if there's a peacock fanning its tail feathers on top of the rock.    Hope your weekend is wonderful!  This is Weekend Neutrals

Hello! I have a LO and a video to share with you today. I made this using the special materials stacks that are out at Michael's right now. I LOVE play ing with texture and different materials. It gives projects a little something extra ;) Cork embellishments are so in right now. I love making my own using my stamps, dies and punches. Hope you enjoyed the video!

Take me some place nice :)

Who's going to the movies this weekend?! These movie tickets were prizes for my baby shower games. I didn't want to give them in the boring envelope they came in, so I made this.  I love the colors and how happy these papers look. These tickets are about 3x7, so I cut the paper 6.5x7.25  I added a bit on each side so I would have small flaps to fold back and glue.  I decided which side would be the front and punched the tab with a circle punch. I placed the punch less than half way into the paper to end up with the half circle tab.   I added some twine and cut this embellishment out of the stack. I attached it with foam dots to make it pop a bit.  Now this looks like a prize!  This is the DCWV Prism Play stack.

Baby shower decor

Image
Just a few snapshots of my favorite decor pieces used for my baby shower.  A shelf with pictures and monogram:  The stuff on the 2nd shelf are prizes for some of the games.   I'm crafty, so I couldn't just stay out of it.  I made chocolate dipped pretzels as favors:   And masks for the photo booth:    I saw the idea for a 'welcome wagon' on pinterest and it was too cute to pass up...   These are the center pieces for the tables. They turned out so pretty!  These are little center pieces that were displayed on the table along with the bigger center pieces above.  The mushrooms are actually chocolate! So cute, right?! My sister really did an awesome job planning this! Hope these images spark the craftiness in you!
