Hello Lovely!

Image
Hello! I want to show you this cool layout I made with the DCWV Jet Black stack. At first, I was a little put off by this stack because it's black and white with a couple sheets of black glitter and a couple sheets of white glitter. Well, turns out I LOVE this stack!  I drew and water colored this balloon the other day. I used the white wink of stella pen before adding watercolor and it's shimmery everywhere! The basket and ropes were covered in  Imagine Crafts shimmer creative medium, so the paper resists the water color and becomes shimmery.   I love the way my baby used to sleep when she was tiny. of course it's still cute, but for a while, she slept with her arms up by her face and her mouth looked all pouty.  I still need to add journaling to this page, which I will tuck behind the photo. That map paper is from the DCWV Maps and Ledgers 8x8 stack. I got out a bunch of die cuts and stickers and clustered them in a couple places. I love the bla

February Stack-a-holic challenge

Hello! If you're a stack-a-holic like me and you're one sheet of paper away from an episode of Hoarders, join us at the DCWV blog every month for an excuse to use up that paper stash! Here's my layout this month: I used the Marquee and Jet Black stacks. Both are available at Joann.  This is a screen shot from the one time I was on TV. A spanish language station came to my classroom to film a news segment about the importance of early education and the Los Angeles Universal Preschool program. Raising awareness of the importance of early education, especially in my community has been a goal of mine. I feel like a little piece of that dream was realized that day. This quote comes from the Jet Black stack. I love that lettering! The embellishments are from one of Heidi Swapp's ephemera pack. The portion of film, the news decided to show was our everyday phonics routine. Because the white paper is actually glittery and full of texture, I dec

Savor the moments

Hello! I feel like I'm recovering from the Holidays, CHA and my sister's baby shower. I was so happy to get back in my craft room and make stuff. I felt the need to get a little messy. I want to show you this layout full of messy goodness. I started with the hexagon paper from the Hello Darlin' stack, which you can find at Joann stores. Then I put down some lines of Imagine Crafts Tear It tape in the shape of a rectangle, a little bigger than 4x6. I peeled the adhesive and used gold foil sheets to make a gold photo mat right on my background paper. I also added more tape lines and gold foil to a couple other places on the page. Next, I brought out my favorite shabby embossing powders and paint fragments. I mixed the paint fragments and embossing powders and spread them out in a few places on the page. I heated the powders from the bottom to melt everything together. This is my baby at 4 months. Those early months went by in a flash. I really tried to savor each mom

What's on your work desk Wednesday

Image
Hello!  My desk and surrounding areas are a Mess (with a capital M!).  There's a new layout (yay!) embossing powders and adhesives. Baby monitor, shaped like an apple, Stapler on top of a box of embellishments said baby keeps getting into. A gift card holder in the form of a plush fox. Said baby also thought one of the dogs needed it as a toy so now it's here waiting to be cleaned. CHA make and takes that need to be put away, glue dots, foam squares, and corner rounder, all on top of my trimmer. At least I'm back to doing WOYWW once in a while! I missed the community :)  Hope my desk will be looking a little more organized next time. I'm off to see your creative desks next! HERE is what WOYWW is all about.

CHA Discovering new products and companies

So much to see at CHA! Here are some of the things I discovered: Impressart has 'metal stamps' that you can use to customize a variety of surfaces. I'm talking from necklaces to forks! Chibitronics has light up elements you can add to paper crafts!  What a cute little card, right? I got this at the Eileen Hull  Paper Trail booth . We made a box for crayons to put into a shoe box for Operation Christmas Child . They'll be delivered to needy children. The lady doing the 'make and leave' gave baby a shoe to keep her happy while I worked on the box :)    Imagine crafts has a new tear tape that is super easy to use!  I also saw this very cool material called Vertigo  but I didn't get a photo. Click on the name to check it out.  At the Pebeo  booth, I got so excited about the cerne relief paint, the lady there gave me one of the samples. She was so nice!   Look at how fine the tip is. I can outl

CHA: My favorite people

Image
I loved getting to actually meet people I only communicate with online. First, Megan, my design team lead at DCWV along with some of my teammates: Here we are! From left to right, Yolie , Myself with baby, Megan, Jessica and Valerie I was so happy to meet my favorite designer/teacher/glittery super hero, Shimelle Laine . She is a very sweet, genuine person and it comes across online and in real life. I didn't get a photo with Mark Montano , but I got to talk to him and do his make and take at the DecoArt booth. Here's a photo from the DecoArt blog , but you can't see my face, just my hair on the left. I'm wearing a cream colored shirt. Mark is so fun and encouraging. One of my very favorite artists and people, Rita Barakat . She is beautiful and talented and sweet! Loving her blue hair! I have another CHA post coming up soon :)   I want to show you all the cool products I saw at the show!

Hello!  I can't believe CHA is over already! It was so much fun. I had always wanted to go and I was so happy when Megan, our design team lead asked if I wanted to help at the DCWV booth. Of course I wanted to!  So here I am helping however I was able.  Here is a photo of the make and takes:  This is the Story Locket necklace personalized with a rub on monogram and your choice of rhinestones inside. Just beautiful! The other make and take was this beautiful crepe paper flower. Looks darling in that little vase, But it would look super cute on a pen too :)  This beautiful flower comes from one of the Craft60 project kits. the Craft60 project is a movement, or a call to arms hehe, for crafters to share their passion with their friends and family. Learn more here: http://www.thecraft60project.com/  Here's my badge right in front of the beautiful water feature outside the convention center.  More photos from the booth:  Yolie'
