DCWV March Challenge

Image
Hey! Here is my take on the March challenge which is up now at the DCWV blog I used the brand new Treasures stack at Michaels for the layout. The embellishments are old DCWV Vintage collector. The feathers are actually wood veneer which I embossed with antique silver Frantage embossing powder. Her embossing powders are my favorite! This month I made a card too! I was so inspired by the sketch and the new Confetti stack from Joann's.  I hope you get a chance to play along. Check out the sketches here .

New Jersey Adventure

Hello!  This layout is actually inspired by the story. The photo is just one of the many that we took in the area and I like it, so I decided to use it here.  The photo is our view of New York from our hotel in New Jersey.  We rode the train into the city every day because we didn't want to drive our car into NY. When we drove into New Jersey, we went to get gas and my husband got out of the car. Well, two men approached him from different directions and we thought we were about to get mugged! lol They were actually just trying to let him know about the law. You can't fill up your own gas in New Jersey.they have paid attendants to do that. We thanked them and explained we were from California and we fill up our own gas. The hotel staff laughed so hard when we told them the story!  I used the new Stateside line out at Joann's. There is paper, embellishments, tag stacks. posters. All kinds of awesome coordinating products and I'm loving it all!!!

Hello Beautiful!

Hello, I've been busy in the craftroom creating this layout with a photo I've wanted to scrap for a while. It's baby holding daddy's camera and being super happy to be allowed to do so.  There's no particular story about this photo, so I thought I would make the journaling about things she likes. I typed the words with my typewriter onto  DCWV's adhesive fabric. I love how it's a little sheer. The background papers are a mix from the following DCWV stacks: DIY Envelopes, Textiles and Jet Black. The leaves and vines are cut out of the DCWV mercury glass stack.  I love that pink, orange, yellow and gray pattern from the textiles stack and I'm happy that I was able to leave a whole bunch of it on show. I also included a big block of the pink paper around the photo to have a little more 'calm' in an otherwise chaotic layout. With so many squares and blocks, the vines and leaf provide much needed variety.  Don't be af

Introducing my smart-fab obsession

Hello! Guess what?! I made cards! I know, weird, but I like the way they turned out :)  I picked up a sample of Smart-fab at CHA and I was so excited about using it on my paper projects. I knew it would look great and I was right! Smart-fab is almost like tissue paper that won't get torn up, or thin fabric that won't fray. A little translucent and super light. This is my very favorite card EVER. I don't make cards as often as I make layouts or altered items or mixed media stuff. I definitely need to practice my card making skills and I patted myself on the back for this one.  Both of these cards were made using the same technique.  I picked 5 colors of smart-fab. I wanted non traditional colors for valentine day cards, so I chose to do a yallow to red ombre and a pink to blue gradient. I love the effect I was able to achieve because of the range of colors that are available.  Next, I watercolored the background to match the colors of smart-fab and
